“For the Church, precisely because it embraces all nations and is destined to endure until the end of time … of its very nature requires a language that is universal, immutable, and nonvernacular” (Pope Pius XI, Officiorum Omnium, 1922).
From the Emmaus Institute for Biblical Studies, an exciting new course offering:
We are excited to bring in Mike Katalenich, Latin and Philosophy teacher at Pius X High School, to teach this most sacred and very Catholic language. Because language study is cumulative and requires time, we are offering Latin 1 as a “year-long” course of study: 10 weeks in the Fall quarter (Introduction to Latin Grammar A, $200); 5 weeks in the Winter interterm (Introduction to Latin Grammar B, $100); and 10 more weeks in the Spring quarter (Introduction to Latin Grammar C, $200). Students are, of course, able to register for each section separately, but we really do recommend committing to an entire “school year” of study. Latin 1 will cover the essentials, while a future Latin 2 course (Fall 2023 - Spring 2024) will complete the course of study.
If you are a priest or deacon interested in these courses, Latin Mass Lincoln will sponsor you in-full for your enrollment, while funds are available.
Registration can be found here.
